The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition is Nothing’s latest smartphone, using a design submitted by the community – and it glows in the dark. Depending on your location, you can register for a chance to buy the device starting today, but that doesn’t guarantee a purchase. Only 1,000 of them will be available, and they won’t be sold in North America, Taiwan and Korea.

In March, Nothing first asked the community to design a product. The contest had four steps: creating a new look, designing a wallpaper, designing a new package, and then developing a marketing campaign. People would then submit their ideas and winners would later be selected.

These entries later went into the final design as can be seen now. Community program participants are given priority in registering for the Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition, but it will still be sold on a first-come-first-served basis. You can find out how to get it in this post.

Interestingly, those living in Malaysia (like me), Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines don’t need to register to potentially buy it. They can buy it through Nothing’s official partners, though they’ll have to be fast as each country only has 25 devices. Fans of Nothing’s phone in Japan can also register for the phone, but the phones they’ll get will be based on the older Nothing phone (2a).

Apart from buying the phone online, fans in London and Delhi can visit a physical store to buy it. The Nothing store in Soho will stock 50 phones from November 16. Those living in Delhi will have to be prepared for the location, though, and the phone will be available on November 23.

The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition will launch on November 12 and will cost £399, or about $430. It has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space.
